Legacy Capsule
Construction on Oklahoma City’s new NBA arena, Continental Coliseum, passed a major construction milestone on July 20th as crews began pouring concrete for the building’s substructure.
To celebrate the turning point, project partners assembled a legacy capsule containing artifacts that tell the story behind Continental Coliseum and the community that made it possible. The capsule contains items that honor Oklahoma City's past, document this historic milestone and reflect the vision for the city's future.
Some items included in the capsule are:
-
A wooden coin from the 1972 grand opening of the Myriad Convention Center, honoring the history of the site where Continental Coliseum now rises.
-
A safety vest from the Flintco | Mortenson construction team.
-
A 2023 penny marking voter approval of a new arena, representing the community's continued investment in Oklahoma City's future.

Craft Appreciation Event
The Oklahoma City Thunder partnered with Braums Ice Cream and Gatorade to show appreciation for the hardworking trade partners helping bring Continental Coliseum to life. Team members from the Thunder organization, accompanied by mascot Rumble, visited the project site to personally thank crews for their dedication, craftsmanship and commitment to the project.
Our trade partners enjoyed complimentary snacks and refreshments while taking a well-deserved break from the summer heat. The visit provided an opportunity to recognize the thousands of hours of effort being invested by the skilled trades who are transforming the future home of Oklahoma City sports and entertainment.

Optional Bidder Interest Meeting
Flintco | Mortenson held a meeting to give trade partners a chance to learn about upcoming bid opportunities for this generational project. Attendees learned about the project, scopes of work, timeline, procurement opportunities and other requirements.
